Addiction Science
Dissemination and Implementation Lab
Welcome!
The Addiction Science Dissemination and Implementation Research Lab applies dissemination and implementation (D&I) science to understanding and improving the adoption, implementation, and sustainment of evidence-based prevention and treatment for substance use.
Our primary project examines how college prevention experts and student affairs professionals select and adopt alcohol prevention and early intervention strategies for their campuses, including examining barriers and facilitators to this process, and the use of existing selection tools, such as the College Alcohol Intervention Matrix (CollegeAIM).
Our ultimate goal is to improve access to evidence-based services for alcohol and other substance prevention and early intervention via supporting our providers and the systems they work in so they can function optimally. We are currently examining how we can best develop and deliver implementation support tools/programs to enhance the efforts of providers who work with college students.
Centering our efforts on community-engaged work and mixed-method designs, we conduct studies in collaboration with our community coalition and other partners. We have several projects focused on learning from students, recipients of interventions, and providers. We aim to improve access and reduce barriers for addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services among at-risk groups, embed prevention into other areas of wellness services, utilize a whole person approach, and provide support for historically under-resourced settings for substance prevention, such as community colleges.
