Meekim is a research specialist in the Addiction Science Dissemination and Implementation Lab. They graduated from Mizzou with their BS in Psychology and minor in Sociology. During their undergraduate career, they were involved in the social/personality dynamics and existential psychology research labs where they studied the complex emotion of hope. Since research is infrequently applied to the real world, Meekim is interested to see how implementation science can help to close the research-to-practice gap in the context of helping those struggling with addiction. Meekim plans to go to graduate school to receive a degree in counseling psychology and hopes to become a therapist that works with those who struggle with identity and existentialism. In their free time, they like to explore Columbia's nature and trails, reading, playing video games, and enjoying the comfort of their bed.
Ethan is a junior undergraduate researcher in the Addiction Science Dissemination and Implementation Lab. He is originally from Joliet, IL, and he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Psychological Sciences, a minor in sociology, and a certificate in Addiction Studies. He hopes to attend law school in the Fall of 2027 and, upon graduation from law school, work in criminal prosecution or a drug policy center. He is particularly interested in finding ways to educate our community on how to treat an opioid overdose, how to identify signs of overdose, how to identify signs of alcohol poisoning, and how to treat alcohol poisoning. He is also interested in studying how public policy can be used to help curb overdoses, lower drug misuse rates, and increase public health awareness about the effects of drugs and alcohol. Outside of the lab, Ethan enjoys trying new places around Columbia, playing video games, watching Chicago/Mizzou sports, being with friends and family, and watching TV.
